Any permit to work can conflict with another permit to work. For example, take two different permits to work that both require the same valve in their LOTO procedure. However, one permit to work needs it open while the other needs it closed. An obvious conflict has arisen. On the Conflicts tab, you can acknowledge these conflicts and identify a resolution to the conflict.

The tab lists many fields from the Permit to Work screen, but these are all protected. Only the user can enter these two fields:

  1. Conflicting PTW - Select the permit to work from the list that conflicts with the permit to work of your header record.

The department security settings are relaxed on this lookup, so you can select a permit to work from a department that is not on your list.

  2. Resolution - Pick a relevant resolution. System Codes entity CNFS.

If one or more conflicting records exist for a permit to work without a resolution, it will automatically be flagged for Un-assessed Conflicts (check box on the Permit to Work screen).

Every time you create a record on the Conflicts tab, the system will also create a sister record on the Conflicts tab of the Conflicting PTW. The Resolution on the sister record will be set based on the setting of the Organization Option PTWCONFL. If the option is SYNC, the resolution will be set as follows:

System populates sister record Resolution

If set to MANUAL the resolution of the sister record will remain blank, or in the case of updates will not be affected.

If a Conflicting PTW is Cancelled or Closed, no updates will be applied to it.
