EAM-53548 Work Orders | Parts - “Permission to update this record denied due to insufficient department security rights"

 Description

Users that carry out work on a group of assets. The department that is on the asset is not part of their department security rights, However, they have PM WOs that are issued to their department that they work on. Their department is linked to their store. The department on the asset is linked to a different store.

They can book labour to the WO and the costs are visible against the asset. However, when they go to the Issue/Return Parts screen to issue parts to the job from their they get the following error when they try to select the WO.

'Permission to update this record denied due to insufficient department security rights.'

As such, they are unable to issue parts to the WO.

If I give them access to the department on the asset, they do not have this problem, but this allows them access to WOs and a store they should not have access to.

One can understand what department security is trying to do, but I cannot understand why they are able to add labour costs to a piece of equipment (via a WO), but not materials costs via the same WO.

Use case says

7.2.74 DEPTSEC set to ‘ON’

• If the DEPTSEC is set to ‘ON’ and the department on the work order exists on department security tab of the user with read only box checked then the record becomes protected.

o If a record is selected and a link button is clicked then the system will produce an error.

Link Triggered/Web Services Error: "You do not have sufficient department security to update this record."

• If the DEPTSEC is set to ‘ON’ and record exists for Dept, with read only box Unchecked, then basic flow applies.

This is for booking labor :

7.2.57 DEPTSEC set to ‘ON’

• If the DEPTSEC is set to ‘ON’ and the department on the work order exists on department security tab of the user with read only box checked then the record becomes protected.

o If a record is selected and a link button is clicked then the system will produce an error.

Link Triggered/Web Services Error: "You do not have sufficient department security to update this record."

• If the DEPTSEC is set to ‘ON’ and record exists for Dept, with read only box Unchecked, then basic flow applies.

So it looks like all these should be based on EVT_MRC (work order department)

1. DEPTSEC =ON.

2. As R5 create a user having department added for the DEPT1 but not DEPT2.

3. Create a WO for DEPT1 with and asset created for DEPT2.

4. Login as user created in step.

5. Go to Work Orders - select the WO.

6. Go to Work Orders | Parts.

7. Try to issue a part to the WO, you get the permission error.

Actual Result - Unable to issue part.

Expected Result - Able to issue part.
