Create employee records. The Constraint Optimizer is capable of dispatching individual employees to WO activities if they are not a valid member of a crew for the system date. If they are a valid member of a crew for the system date, then they will not be dispatched as an individual employee.
There can be a mixture of Crews and Employees that are dispatched to WO activities. Any employee record created for consumption in this integration must have all the following TRUE:
-
The Tradesperson check box must be selected (crew employees and individual employees).
-
The employee cannot be Out of Service (crew employees and individual employees).
-
The employee must have a valid location populated (individual employees only). This is the location for which the employee starts his/her workday. Therefore, Starting X Location and Starting Y Location fields (new on Employees screen for this release) must be populated. See WO equipment (A/S/P) for details of these values.
-
If a valid location is not available for any of the individual employees that would be sent to the Constraint Optimizer during a particular process, the entire process will be stopped and an error will be displayed. See Setting up Constraint Optimizer records for details.
-
See Crews for details of crew location (versus individual employee).
-
If an employee is always a member of a crew, then populating their location on their Employee record is not necessary as the crew location will be used in that case.
-
See WO equipment (A/S/P) for details and handling of the location fields.
-
When determining the optimal sequence for each individual employee’s WO activities, the Constraint Optimizer will use the employee’s location (Starting X Coordinate and Starting Y Coordinate) as their starting location for the workday.
-
It will make sure the employee can make it to the location of the last WO activity it dispatched before the employee’s shift ends (i.e., the CO does NOT make sure the last activity can be completed before the end of the shift, only that it can be started).
