Beginning in EAM Mobile for Transit 11.5, a user can choose to access multiple maps within the application if these have been configured in the EAM desktop environment using existing multiple maps functionality. If the EAM system is configured with the GISMAPS Install parameter set to "Organization" or "Department", any map(s) having the ‘Mobile Only’ flag as checked on for the corresponding Map record in the EAM base application and available to the EAM user logged into the mobile application will appear as available in the Map Configurations screen. Note: If the EAM system is configured with the GISMAPS Install parameter set to "Global", only one single map will appear as available in the Map Configurations screen and be available within the application.

Each map record shown in the Map Configurations screen will include basic information about the map contents and specifications. The user can also view the following for each map:

  • Features – the feature service URL (i.e. MOBGMAP parameter for the map record).

  • Basemap – the basemap service URL (i.e. MOBGURL parameter for the map record).

  • Portal – the ArcGIS Portal URL (i.e. MOBGPURL installation parameter).

  • Extent – the map extent to be downloaded (i.e. MOBEXT parameter for the map record).

  • Layers – the map layers to be downloaded from the specified feature service (i.e. comma-separated values from the MOBGLYRS parameter for the map record).

  • Default – an indicator to flag if the map should be the default map displayed in the Map View.

  • Offline – an indicator to flag if the map should be displayed dynamically in connected (online) mode; or a local copy downloaded to the mobile device for use in disconnected mode. See section(s) following, ‘Connected (Online) Mode’ and ‘Disconnected Mode’.

Should the user wish to override any of these settings previously configured for any map record – including modifying the basemap, extent and/or feature service layers to be downloaded to the mobile device; they can do so through the Edit button on the map record:

  • To change the basemap, the user can click the Change Basemap button and the application will display a list of basemaps that currently exist on the device (i.e. already downloaded).

  • To change the map extent, the user can either manually enter/update the coordinate values to define the extent; or may use the Draw New Extent link button to have the application determine coordinate values via a polygon select tool shown in a basemap preview. When the user clicks the Draw New Extent link button, a polygon extent indicator appears on the basemap preview, in edit mode. With this indicator, the sides of the polygon can be clicked and held to move the extent to another location on the map; and/or the corners can be clicked and held to increase/decrease the size of the extent. In addition, the basemap (outside of the extent) can be clicked and held to reposition the map within the extent. Once the map extent is selected using the tool, the system will populate the corresponding coordinates for the extent, overwriting existing coordinate values when Save Drawn Extent is clicked.

If the extent coordinates are manually entered/updated using the Extent field, the extent indicator polygon on the map will not be updated automatically to be kept in sync. In this case, the user can click the Change Map Area to Match Extent link button (only displayed if the user clicks in the Extent field).

To change the layers that will be downloaded as part of the map, the user can select/tap on each of the layer names. Only those layer(s) marked with a checkmark will be downloaded to the map on the mobile device.
