When the GISMAPS installation parameter is populated, a mobile user will be presented with the Map Configurations screen automatically after logging into the EAM for Transit application for the first time on a mobile device and following the subsequent prompt to save the initial Sync Configuration screen settings. However, if the GISMAPS installation parameter is not populated when an initial sync is performed by the EAM Mobile for Transit user, this indicates the user does not intend to use the GIS functionality and the Map Configurations screen will not be shown.

The primary purpose of the Map Configurations screen is to indicate all possible preconfigured map(s) available for the user; and to allow the user to further customize the maps that will be available for use in the EAM Mobile for Transit application. During an initial sync of the Mobile Transit app, the system will display all maps available to the user in the Map Configurations screen.

This screen was previously called GIS Settings but has been re-designed in EAM Mobile for Transit 11.5 to provide support for multiple maps.

It is useful to note that maps designed for use in EAM Mobile for Transit differ from those designed for use in the EAM Desktop application (i.e. for the GIS Map Search Screen) in that they must contain editable ArcGIS feature services, rather than non-editable map services. Though both type of map records are generally created through the Maps screen in the EAM Desktop application; any map(s) intended for use within the EAM Mobile for Transit application are distinguished via selection of a ‘Mobile Only’ checkbox at the time the map record is created in the Maps screen of the base application. When an EAM Desktop user creates a map record and selects the ‘Mobile Only’ checkbox, available parameters for the map record default to MOBGMAP, MOBGLYRS, etc. and the user can populate these with corresponding feature service and feature service layer parameter information. However, when an EAM Desktop user creates a map record and does not select the ‘Mobile Only’ checkbox, the available parameters include the GISSERV parameter which the user populates with a corresponding map service URL.

For additional background context and setup directions, see the HxGN EAM Mobile for Transit Configuring Map View functional brief.

Due to these differences, map records which are not flagged as ‘Mobile Only’ will not be available for use in the EAM Mobile for Transit application; and map records that are flagged as ‘Mobile Only’ will not be available for use/display within the EAM desktop application.
