Existing GIS user is implementing HxGN EAM and needs to create GIS features as EAM equipment.
-
Determine which GIS layers will be integrated with HxGN EAM.
-
Add the GISOBJID and UPDATE_COUNT columns to each layer’s attribute table. The GISOBJID is used to link each map feature to HxGN EAM equipment and the UPDATE_COUNT column is for tracking updates to the feature record so that attribute synchronization can be performed more efficiently. These are discussed in more detail later.
-
The map layer attribute tables contain specific data about each feature. But you will need to ensure that, at a minimum, all data required to create an HxGN EAM equipment record is accounted for. In most cases, there may be enough data here to satisfy these basic requirements such as description, status, and type. Using the HxGN EAM GIS integration toolbar, map data from the GIS attribute table for each layer to similar fields in the object table of the HxGN EAM database. The data mappings should be considered carefully before synchronization. A detailed discussion of mapping requirements is considered later.
-
Next, use the HxGN EAM GIS integration toolbar after the initial equipment creation is completed to keep both systems in sync.
