If the Document Code is left blank, the system will automatically generate a unique number for the Document Code when the document file is uploaded. Additionally, if the Description is left blank, the system will also populate the Description field (with the file name of the document).
Optionally, additional attributes for the document may be defined, including effective dates, title, document class and revision information. A user-defined thumbnail for the document may also be uploaded, if desired.
Beginning with the HxGN EAM 12.1 release, for environments in the HxGN Cloud that are configured with Amazon document S3 storage, thumbnails for documents will be automatically generated if no user-defined thumbnail is uploaded.
If an attempt is made to upload or view file types that are prohibited (.exe, .com, .bat or .js), the system rejects the attempt with an error message.
In addition, a White List feature may be defined in the MPConfiguration.xml file. This is a list of file types (such as, .pdf, .doc, etc.) that the customer has deemed to be safe to upload. No other file types are allowed. If the user attempts to upload or view any other file type, system rejects the attempt with an error message.
