This document describes grid web services, which are web services that allow predefined database queries to be run with responses of multiple records in XML. A grid may be used to query business data or may be used to provide a list of values (LOV) to validate field entry. This document describes the SOAP bodies for the grid web services only. For full details on SOAP headers and the processing of SOAP messages, see the HxGN EAM Web Services Toolkit User Guide.
A grid definition starts with a predefined base query. A Dataspy uses a grid definition and defines user-defined filter(s), sort criteria, and a result list of fields. There is always a default Dataspy defined by the system, but users can override this and create new Dataspy definitions.
A grid response may contain just the data or data with definitions (definitions of the fields, their types, labels, etc.)
For a complete XML list of all LOV lookups with their definitions, see LOVDefinitions.xml. See Appendix A - Structure of LOV grid definition document for a definition of its XML structure.
