Services Costs for each compatible units library services record of the CU estimate are calculated by multiplying the quantity of compatible units specified on the estimate, by the CU standard rate and hours required from the compatible units library services record. When multiple services records exist for a single the compatible units library record (i.e. more than one service is required for the compatible unit), the costs for each of these services records are summed together to show the total Services Costs for the compatible unit.

Finally, the Total CU Cost for each compatible unit associated to the CU estimate is calculated; by summing the labor costs, parts costs, tools costs and services costs for the compatible unit.

When compatible units library records associated to a CU estimate include one or more related Child CUs, the system also identifies any applicable labor, parts, tools and services records from the Child CU, calculates costs for those records as described above, and aggregates/rolls up costs to the parent compatible units library record. In addition, when performing the calculations for child CU records, the system also multiplies the total cost for the Child CU by the quantity specified for that Child CU on the parent compatible units library record.

Once the Costs tab is populated; the status of the CU estimate is updated to ‘Estimated’ and the status of the corresponding project is updated to ‘CU Design Estimated’. Other tabs of the CU estimate record become protected - a user will be unable to add additional work points, suppliers or associate additional compatible units library records to the CU estimate while it is in ‘Estimated’ status. However, if updates are required, a user may manually update status for the CU estimate through the Status dropdown on the record view; returning the CU estimate to a status of ‘Not Estimated’. There is no limit to the number of times an CU estimate may be updated and/or have cost details recalculated.
