The Work Points tab of the CU Estimates screen allows a user to add and update work point records associated with CU Estimates. All work points records associated to the header will be available on the Compatible Units tab for the user to further associate with specific compatible units library records.

In addition to specifying a unique code and description for one or more work points of the CU estimate, other fields in the Work Point details section of this tab also allows the user to indicate additional descriptive information about a work point, or the work to occur at the specific work point. If the Span checkbox is selected for a work point record, this indicates that the nature of the work point is more linear or distance-based in origin (i.e. a length of wire; or a length of trench) rather than occurring at a single point location. For span work points, the user must also specify the Span length (i.e. 100 meters) and a point of origin for the span (the From Work Point). Optionally, the user may enter additional details such as a Supplier, the Vintage Year, the Accounting Code, and the Fixed Asset Code for the financial asset to be created through work performed at the work point. See Record View and Additional compatible units considerations for additional information about Compatible Units Accounting Codes and Fixed Asset Codes.

Depending on the design and how the work is to be organized, a user has the option to further organize and structure activities to be associated with a specific work point. If a value is specified in the CU Design Child WO field on the Work Points tab of the CU estimates screen, the system will generate work order activities (and activity-related child records) for all compatible units associated to that work point into the specified CU Design Child WO and not on the parent work order (CU Design WO on the CU Estimates record view).

Much like on the CU estimate record view, the user can also specify contributions for work point records that are associated to the estimate. When a value for Contribution Total is specified for one or more of the work points records, the system determines the total of these contributions and carries that total forward to the cost calculation of the CU estimate. However, if a value for Contribution % is specified for any of the work point records, the system then determines the costs associated with the specific work point, factored by the contribution %, and then carries this total forward to the total CU estimate cost.

As on the CU estimate record view tab, if user codes and descriptions for the Compatible Units Adjustments (CUAJ entity) fields have been configured, a user has the option to define or update any of the Labor Adjustments, Materials Adjustments, and/or Tools Adjustments for a specific work point. Any adjustments specified for a specific work point on this tab will be defaulted to any associated compatible units library record when these are associated to that work point on the compatible units tab.
