On the Labor tab of the Compatible Units Library screen, a user is able to specify the amount of labor required by Trade for the compatible unit library record. On this tab, both Trade and Hours Required are required fields. Only trades that have been made as available for compatible units will be displayed in the Trade lookup on this tab.

An optional ‘Available for CUs’ checkbox was added to the Trades, Tools, Parts, and Departments screens to provide support for compatible units. This checkbox is delivered as hidden; but should be made as optional via Screen Designer when using compatible units features.

In addition to specifying a Trade for labor; a user may optionally specify a Standard Crew, to be considered for cost estimation purposes only. If only Trade is specified, when cost estimation is performed, the system considers the CU Standard Rate associated with the Trade and organization/department combination specified on the compatible units library header. If Standard Crew is also specified, the system considers the CU standard rate associated with the standard crew in determining costs. In addition, should the user wish to manually override either rate; a user-defined value may be specified in the Rate Override field.

The Labor tab for the Compatible Units Library screen also permits a user to specify labor for the compatible units library record which apply only under specific scenarios/circumstances. For this purpose, the tab includes the Action Type field and up to ten possible Labor Adjustment fields (Labor Adjustment 0-9). When a user enters Trade, Hours Required and specifies Action Type as "Install", for example; the resulting labor record will only be considered for cost estimation and work order activity generation if the compatible units library record is associated to the CU estimate also having an action type of "Install". In contrast, if the same compatible units library also includes labor records with a specified Action Type of "Remove", then the system will not consider those records for estimating costs or when generating work order activities. Labor adjustments are selected for consideration for a CU estimate using the same logic - when these are defined on a CU estimate, only the labor records from the compatible units library record which ‘match’ (or are <null>) for the same adjustment field) will be selected by the system.
