Prior to use of compatible units features in HxGN EAM, it is expected that the user or their system administrator has performed the following setup procedures:

  1. Via Screen Designer, update the ‘Available for CUs’ checkbox on the following screens to be displayed as optional (hidden on delivery):

    1. Trades

    2. Tools

    3. Parts

    4. Departments

  2. Via Screen Designer, update the ‘CU Standard Rate’ (or ‘CU Standard Price’, for parts) field on the following screens/tab to be displayed as optional (hidden on delivery):

    1. Trades > Rates

    2. Standard Crews > Rates

    3. Parts > Prices

    4. Parts > Stores

    5. Departments > Tools

  3. Using the System Codes screen, configure any desired user codes/descriptions for the labor, materials and tools adjustment fields on the Compatible Units Library and CU Estimates screens. These codes may be configured for the Compatible Units Adjustments entity (CUAJ) by specifying unique user codes/descriptions for system codes L0 through L9 for labor adjustments, M0 through M9 for materials adjustments and T0 through T9 for tools adjustments. Further, when specifying user codes for labor adjustments, a numeric value may be set in the Adjustment field to be used to scale labor costs when the specific adjustment is applied on a CU estimate.

  4. Via Screen Designer, update any configured Labor Adjustment field(s) on the Compatible Units Library > Labor tab to be displayed as optional (hidden on delivery) and edit field name(s) for these adjustments as desired. Corresponding updates should be made on the CU Estimates record view, CU Estimates > Work Points and CU Estimates > Compatible Units tabs.

  5. Via Screen Designer, update any configured Materials Adjustment field(s) on the Compatible Units Library > Labor tab to be displayed as optional (hidden on delivery) and edit field name(s) for these adjustments as desired. Corresponding updates should be made on the CU Estimates record view, CU Estimates > Work Points and CU Estimates > Compatible Units tabs.

  6. Via Screen Designer, update any configured Tools Adjustment field(s) on the Compatible Units Library > Labor tab to be displayed as optional (hidden on delivery) and edit field name(s) for these adjustments as desired. Corresponding updates should be made on the CU Estimates record view, CU Estimates > Work Points and CU Estimates > Compatible Units tabs.

  7. Using the System Codes screen, configure any desired user codes/descriptions for the optional Activity Type field displayed on the Compatible Units Library screen. These codes may be configured for the Compatible Units Activity Type entity (ACTP) by specifying unique user codes/descriptions for the default activity type (*) system code. When these user codes are configured, the optional Activity Type dropdown on the Compatible Units Library record view will display a list of all user code descriptions for the Compatible Units Activity Type entity.

  8. On the Status Change Authorizations screen, ensure that appropriate status change authorizations have been specified for any users or user groups that will be defining compatible units library records, performing estimation, quoting estimates, approving estimates and/or generating work order activities from CU estimates, for the Projects (PROJ), CU Estimates (CUES) and Compatible Units Library (CULB) entities:

  1. Through the Options tab of the Organization screen, configure desired values for all compatible units-related Org. Options including:

  • CUESFERC - Determines if the FERC Unit Estimate will be generated during compatible units estimation. If set to NO, the system will not generate the FERC Unit Estimate. If set to YES, the system will generate the FERC Unit Estimate when estimation is performed.

  • CUESOVHD - Determines if overheads will be applied during compatible units estimation. If set to NO, the system will not consider Compatible Units Overhead Codes when estimation is performed on a CU Estimate. If set to YES, the system will include applicable Compatible Units Overhead Codes when estimation is performed.

  • CUESREMV - Remove labor calculation factor: When a valid value is specified and no applicable record exists for labor according to the Remove action type, this value is divided by 100 (%), and applied for the calculation of labor hours on a compatible units library record for the Remove action type of a Compatible Unit; based on a value specified for the Install labor function.

  • CUESSPMT - Span multiplier factor: Determines the standard overage allowance for length-based parts (i.e. parts having UOM as ft., mi., m. or km.) that are included in a Compatible Units Library record that has been flagged as Span Only. When a valid value is specified, this value is divided by 100 (%), and applied to the Quantity of parts in the compatible units library record.

  • CUESTRFR - Transfer labor calculation factor: When a valid value is specified and no applicable record exists for labor according to the Transfer action type, this value is divided by 100 (%), and applied for the calculation of labor hours on a compatible units library record for the Transfer action type of a Compatible Unit; based on a value specified for the Install labor function.

  • CUESWOAG - Determines how activities will be grouped on a work order when work order activities are generated from a CU Estimate. If set to SQ, the system will generate one activity corresponding to each sequence value for each Compatible Unit associated to the CU Estimate. If set to WP, the system will generate one work order activity corresponding to each work point of the CU Estimate.
