Rather than follow-up work orders the system creates follow-up deferred maintenance activities when you click the Create Deferred Maintenance button on the Checklist tab. The deferred maintenance activities are created the same way that follow-up work order activities are created. The Equipment of the deferred maintenance activity will be the same as that of the checklist item.
If the created deferred maintenance activity references a Task Plan with an active checklist, the system does not create the checklist, but will postpone that until the deferred activity is associated (assigned) to a work order.
For linear equipment, the deferred maintenance activity that is created will have the From Point and To Point data set the same as that from the originating checklist item.
The extra fields to create follow-up work orders described above (Defer Follow-up, Standard WO, and Follow-up Group), are not used when creating deferred maintenance. All checklist items flagged for follow-up will become deferred maintenance, regardless of the value of any of these three fields.
