The accounting for emissions produced by a utility company (for example) when producing electricity for our consumption falls under the category of Scope-2 Emissions. To calculate these emissions of CO2e, we need to provide the system with information on the greenhouse gases’ ratio to carbon dioxide (CO2), the Unit of Measure of the CO2e emissions, the specific commodity being consumed (electricity), the supplier of the electricity, the fuel(s) required to produce electricity, the mixture of those fuels (if more than one) and the greenhouse gases emitted by using the fuel(s) used to produce our electricity. In addition, the equipment must have tracking indicators set and a design consumption rate and load factor must be established.
