The asset residual life is defined as the remaining service life (in years) before you decommission the asset. HxGN EAM identifies it as the moment the condition score reaches the threshold where it becomes unsatisfactory. Remaining service life is dependent of the current asset condition, and predictions of the future decay, due to expected operational use. HxGN EAM has functions to continuously calculate current condition score and predict remaining service life. These are the main screens used for this purpose:

  • Decay Curves screen

  • Equipment Ranking screens

  • The main equipment screens and the Equipment Class Definitions screen provide vital input for these functions

For details on defining and activating these functions, see the HxGN EAM Equipment Rankings brief and the sections that discuss condition indexes and calculation condition score.

Note that when using inspections and checklists to determine the current condition score of the equipment, the system has no data to predict end of life. However, all the other condition protocols support this feature.
