If you have SmartPlant Foundation vaults on separate computers than the FTR Main Server, you must install FTR service on these computers after you configure all SmartPlant Foundation vaults so that files can be indexed on their respective computers.

  1. Ensure that SmartPlant Foundation File Server and FTR Service components are installed.

For instructions, see Installing Required SmartPlant Foundation Server Components.

  2. Install FTR RT.

For instructions, see Installing FTR Run Time (RT).

  3. Ensure that a file service virtual directory for the vault has been created with the same name specified for the FileServiceDirectory key.

The FileServiceDirectory key can be found under your site settings in SmartPlant Foundation Server Manager.

If you need to create a file service virtual directory for the vault, follow these steps:

    1. Open Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services.

    2. Right-click Default Web Site and click New > Virtual Directory.

    3. Click Next to continue.

    4. Specify the virtual directory alias. It must be the same as the FileServiceDirectory key value specified in Server Manager for the site. Click Next.

    5. Set the web site content directory to the SPFFileService folder in the SmartPlant Foundation installation directory. Click Next.

    6. Select all available permissions and click Next.

  4. Create an FTR service virtual directory.

    1. Open Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services.

    2. Right-click Default Web Site and click New > Virtual Directory.

    3. Click Next to continue.

    4. Specify the virtual directory alias and click Next.

The virtual directory alias must be the same as the FTR Main Server directory specified in the FTR Server Configuration.

    5. Set the web site content directory to the SPFFTRService folder in the SmartPlant Foundation installation directory. Click Next.

    6. Select all available permissions and click Next.
