  1. Select a folder and click Edit > Add Format.

  2. On the Add Format dialog box, type a name in the Name field.

  3. On the Text Properties dialog box, type your text in the User text box.

If you also need to add field properties to this format definition, click Insert Field on the Format Properties dialog box. For more information, see Insert a Field.

To ensure that unit-conversion is performed successfully, any additional texts that are added using the Text Properties dialog box must be placed to the right of the units that have already been added using the Field Properties dialog box.  When creating a new format always add the format fields before adding any text.  You can also use SmartText in Catalog Manager to embed text into label formats.  Formats that have embedded text should be used only for label formats and not for properties that appear in the Properties window.
