In Lump Sum/%Budget, the Unapproved Cost can be calculated using either or both Lump Sum and Contingency % Budget methods. The Unapproved Cost used in the Contingency calculation is based on the initial budget, which means Unapproved Cost from other methods will not be included in the calculation.

This procedure allows you to create Contingency Lump Sum Cost and Contingency % Cost for the non-contingency type of budget line items.

When the Schedule WBS Activity is mapped to Contingency line item, the cost will not reflect in the Lump Sum%Budget, instead it reflects in the Unapproved line item.

  1. In the Original Budget Summary panel, click any Unapproved Cost hyperlink which is of Contingency type.

  2. In the Contingency Builder panel, click the Lump Sum/%Budget tab.

  3. Type the Contingency Lump Sum Cost for the required budget line item.

  4. Type the Contingency % for the required budget line item.

    Depending upon the requirement you can enter the values for either or both, Contingency Lump Sum and Contingency %.

  5. Select Include Cost for the line items for which you want to generate Contingency Transaction.

  6. Click SAVE. The Contingency % Cost, Total Contingency, and Total Included Contingency auto-populate.

    • The Contingency % Cost is the Contingency % of Unapproved Cost.

    • The Total Contingency is the sum of Contingency Lump Sum and Contingency % Cost.

    • The Total Included Contingency is the sum of all the selected Include Cost line items.

  7. To create the Unapproved Cost for Contingency type budget line items, see Create Contingency Transactions.

    After executing the Create Contingency Transactions action, Include Cost gets unselected so that Contingency Builder is ready for next iteration of calculation.
