Create links between activities which control the sequence of the events in the schedule.

A predecessor activity can have multiple successor activities and vice-versa.

You can link the activities using the below listed dependencies:

  • Finish to Start (Default) - The successor activity begins only when the predecessor activity ends. The end node of the predecessor activity is connected to the front node of the successor activity.

  • Start to Start - The successor activity cannot begin before the predecessor activity begins. The start node of the predecessor activity is connected to the start node of the successor activity.

  • Finish to Finish - The successor activity cannot end before the predecessor activity ends. The end node of the predecessor activity is connected to the end node of the successor activity.

  • Start to Finish - The successor activity cannot end before the predecessor activity begins. The start node of the predecessor activity is connected to the end node of the successor activity.

This procedure allows you to create or update the relationship between the activities and their sequence.

  1. In the Activity Scheduler panel, select the activity row for which you want to add or modify relationship.

  2. In the Activity Task Scheduler Tabs panel, click the Relationships tab.

  3. If required, click REFRESH to update the screen.

  4. In the Predecessors panel, click the Insert Row icon to add a new row.

  5. Click the Source Activity (Hierarchy Path ID) ellipsis and select the activity with which you want to start the sequence of the link.

  6. Select the relationship that you want to assign between the source and target activities from the Relation list. The available options are listed below:

    • Start to Start

    • Start to Finish

    • None

    • Finish to Start

    • Finish to Finish

You can select the Target Activity later in the Successors panel.

  7. Type the number of hours/days to be delayed in the Lag field.

Or, you can also add lag in the Edit link dialog.

Double-click the link between source and target activities in the chart and edit the Lag field.

  8. Select the units for lag from the Units list.

  9. Click the Save icon.

The Source Activity is automatically linked to its immediate successor as a target activity. The Target Activity relation details are auto-updated with same values as in its source activity.

    Also, the below fields auto-populate:

    • Source Activity (Name)

    • Create User

    • Create Date

    • Last Update User

    • Last Update Date

    • Click the Delete Row(s) icon to delete the row.

    • Click the Delete Row(s) icon to delete the row.

Or, you can also remove the link in the Edit link dialog.
