Contract Budget module allows you to establish, view, and approve (if applicable) contract budgets within EcoSys. You can establish contract budget line items for contract line items, and include date, quantity, hours, cost, and other details.

After establishing, contract budget line items can be made time-phased. This allows the user to create and control a single row of data, while spreading that data over a range of periods. Time-phasing controls include start dates, end dates, and budget curves. EcoSys curve types include:

  • Back Loaded

  • Bell Curve

  • Front Loaded

  • Linear

  • Manual (a WBS with a "Manual" curve type is not impacted by EcoSys systematic time-phasing functionality)

After making the line items time-phased, the contract budget is submitted for approval. After approval, original contract budget line items data are copied to the current contract budget and current contract forecast. Contract budget line items with non-zero costs are locked to prevent update. This represents the end of the Original Budget process.

After a contract budget is created, reviewed, and agreed upon, the integrity of that plan needs to be preserved across the life cycle of the project. The contract budget also needs to be adjusted as changes occur related to scope, schedule, or contract execution plans. Any change is limited to the current contract budget and must be managed as a change request. For more information, see Contract Changes. To preserve the initial approved plan, the units, costs, and time phasing are retained as the original budget. The current contract budget is equal to the original contract budget plus any approved changes.
