SDx supports using multiple Web Client sessions in its supported browsers, Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge.

A license is consumed the first time you log onto SDx using either Chrome or Edge. A new license is consumed when you do the following:

  • You log on to a SDx site that is different than the original site you logged onto using the same browser.

If you are using Mozilla FireFox and experience an increase in license consumption, we recommend you use a supported browser.

Additional licenses are not consumed when you do one of the following.

  • You select New Window in the Web Client Search option to perform your search in a new browser window.

  • You open a new browser window from the Actions menu.

  • You paste a Web Client URL into a new tab using the same browser – Edge to Edge or Chrome to Chrome.

  • You paste a Web Client URL into a different Web browser. For example, you copy the URL from an Edge browser and paste it into a Chrome browser, or vice versa.

  • You are using Incognito in Chrome or InPrivate in Edge and paste a Web Client URL into a new browser window, which automatically continues the private browsing session.

  • Chrome and Edge check the SessionID from any new request. When there is already an active license with the same SessionID, they use the existing license and do not check out a new one.

  • Logging out of a site releases a license.

  • Logging onto the Desktop Client while logged onto a Web Client site consumes a license.
