Accessories > CloudWorx > Color Mapping

Allows for a global override of point cloud coloring. Initial point cloud coloring can be replaced by true color or intensity mapping (if available).

Options

Global Color Mapping - Select one of the following settings:

  • No Override to display each point cloud using its own setting or layer override.

  • Intensity Mapping to display all point clouds with intensity-mapped colors. If intensity data is not available, CloudWorx attempts to use true color data (if available), then a single color.

  • True Color to display all point clouds with true color obtained by the scanner. If true color data is not present for a point cloud, the point cloud uses intensity data (if available), then a single color.

  • Appearance to display point clouds with the specified color settings.

Color Scheme - Displays the intensity map for the corresponding color mode. You can select Grayscale, Multi-Hue, or a scaled individual color.

Intensity Mapping Parameters - Specifies values that correspond to the range from dark to bright. For the Multi-Hue setting, the values correspond to ranges from red through yellow and green to blue. The Minimum and Maximum settings typically range from 0 to 1. When the mode is Image Texture Map, Colors from Scanner, or Intensity Map, you can set the following:

  • Minimum - Specifies that the lowest intensity value be mapped to the low end of the selected color scheme.

  • Maximum - Specifies that the highest intensity value be mapped to the high end of the selected color scheme.

  • Actual - Displays the original object minimum and maximum intensity values.

Number of colors - Specifies the number of colors to be used by the color scheme.

Repeat color out of range - Specifies a cyclic color scheme. For example, in Intensity Mapping Parameters, if Minimum is 0 and Maximum is 1, a value of 1.3 is the same color as a value of 0.3. Otherwise, the software gives values lower than the Minimum the color at the low end of the selected color scheme. Values higher than the Maximum are given the color at the high end of the selected color scheme.

Gamma correction - Turns on gamma correction, which can accentuate subtle differences in intensities. A value of 1.0 disables Gamma correction.

Change Point Cloud Color Mapping

  1. From SmartPlant Review, click Accessories > CloudWorx > Color Mapping.

The Point Cloud Color Mapping dialog box displays.

  2. Select one of the Global Color Mapping options.

  3. If you select Intensity Mapping from the Global Color Mapping list, select a mapping Color Scheme, and then adjust the intensity mapping range if required.
    -OR-
For Color Scheme, select Grayscale, Multi-Hue, or a scaled individual color to display the intensity map.

  4. To adjust the Intensity Mapping Parameters, enter a value for the lowest intensity (to be mapped to the low end of the selected color scheme in the Minimum field), and then enter a value (for the highest intensity to be mapped to the high end of the selected color) in the Maximum field. Intensities lower than the minimum or higher than the maximum are given the minimum or maximum color, respectively.

For a greater difference in shades, set a more narrow range.

  5. Select or define any other required color options, and then click OK.

Quick commands related to color mapping

  • Point Rendering > Intensity Mapping: Turn on global color mapping mode as Intensity Mapping with current parameters.

  • Point Rendering > Color From Scanner: Turn on global color mapping mode as True Color.
