Defines the factor by which all API 610 Table 5 allowables are multiplied. In most cases, specify a value from 1.0 to 2.0. If left blank, the software uses a default value of 1.0.

Typically, you use a value of 1.0 when evaluating individual nozzle loads. When checking vertical in-line pumps, this value can be 2.0. The value of 2.0 is also valid when suction and discharge nozzle loads are evaluated together as defined in Appendix F of API 610.

The software replaces values less than 1.0 with the default value of 1.0.

You can specify values greater than 2.0 with restrictions:

  • When Vertical In-line Pump is selected, API 610, Annex F.2 accepts an Allowable Load Multiplier greater than 2.0 for suspended vertical in-line pumps when the principal stress is within the specified limit in each nozzle.

  • When Vertical In-line Pump is cleared, indicating a horizontal pump, API 610, Annex F.1.2.a accepts an Allowable Load Multiplier of up to 2.0 when other conditions are met. Obtain manufacturer approval before applying a value greater than 2.0.
