Use the Cross Section Selection page of the Structural Steel Wizard to specify the cross-sections in the model.

  1. Click Select Section ID.

  2. Expand the hierarchy as needed, select a cross-section and click OK.

SHARED Tip You can also type a cross-section name in the NAME box.

You set the structural database for structural input in the Configuration Editor. See Structural Databases for more information on the delivered databases.

  3. Optionally, select User Defined? to create a custom cross-section. Type values for Area, Ixx (moment of inertia about the strong axis), Iyy (moment of inertia about the weak axis), J (torsion) (torsional resistivity constant), BoxH (overall height) and BoxW (overall width).

  4. Click Add Another Section if you need to define additional cross-sections.

The value for the Section ID increases by one.
