CADWorx Structure tab: Model panel > Connections > Shear Plate
Place a shear plate connection between two members. The two connecting members must be perpendicular to each other.
Template
Load a previously created shear plate connection, or create and save a new shear plate connection.
General
Connection Type
Defines whether the connection placed is a double shear plate (both sides of the web of the connected member) or a single shear plate (one side of the web of the connected member).
Bolted Connection
Specifies if bolts will be used in this shear plate connection.
Cope Gap Distance
Displays the gap between the end of the member and its intersecting member.
Group
Specifies the assigned group. When you select a group from the list, the layer automatically updates to the layer assigned to that group. The groups that display in the Group list come from the Group Manager in the Structure Editor. For more information, see Group Manager in the CADWorx Structure Editor Users Guide.
Layer
Specifies the assigned layer. Layers default to the assigned group. However, you can change a layer as needed. The layers that display in the Layer list come from the Layer Manager in the Structure Editor. For more information, see Layer Manager in the CADWorx Structure Editor Users Guide.
Shear Plate Connection: Plate
Plate Data Table
Select the data table that contains the plate to place. The catalog contains information for all data tables. You can view the catalog in the CADWorx Structure Editor.
Thickness
Specifies the thickness of the plate. Only thicknesses that have been defined in the SPRJ are permitted to be used for shear connection plates.
Material
Specify the material of the shear plate.
Plate Length
Displays the length of the plate.
Auto Height
Specifies whether to use the web height of the connecting member for the Plate’s Height to fit the plate into the member’s web.
Plate Height
Displays the height of the plate.
Distance From Top
Displays the shear plate offset from the top of the connecting member.
Shear Plate Connection: Bolt
Row Count
Enter the number of bolt hole rows.
Row Spacing
Enter the distance between the bolt hole rows. The Row Count and the Row Spacing is centered on the plate.
Column Count
Enter the number of bolt hole columns.

Enter the distance between the bolt hole columns. The Column Count and the Column Spacing is centered on the plate.
X Offset
Specifies the X-axis offset for the bolt holes. Bolt holes placed at zero offset are at the end plate center.
Y Offset
Specifies the Y-axis offset for the bolt holes. Bolt holes placed at zero offset are at the end plate center.
Bolt Type
Specify the bolt type used in the clip angle connection.
Bolt Data Table
Specify the data table for the clip angle connection bolts.
Bolt Size
