The installation is similar to most other Windows installations. The following information is required:

  • What drive is used?

  • Which version of CAD does CADWorx use?

  • Where will CADWorx be installed?

When installing a new version of CADWorx, the CAD profile settings are reset. When updating to a new version of CADWorx the CAD profile settings are not reset.

You must be logged in with administrator privileges to run the installer. If you do not have those privileges, the software prompts you to run as an administrator. You must also have elevated privileges to run the silent install instructions. Run and close the CAD platform you plan to install on one time before you install CADWorx.

To install CADWorx

  1. Open the media received from Hexagon PPM, then double-click to run CADWorxPlantSetup.exe.

  2. Click Start Setup.

    If you have a previous version of CADWorx installed, the software prompts you with the option to uninstall it before installing the current version.

    • Click Continue to install the current version and retain the previous version.

    • Click Uninstall to remove the previous version prior to installing the current version.

    • Click Exit to terminate the installer.

  3. Type the user name in the User Name box.

  4. Type the company name in the Company Name box.

  5. Select the software required for installation.

  6. Click (Version) to expand the software selection, and then type the serial number provided by Hexagon PPM.

    The Editor does not require a serial number.

  7. Select the platform version with which to run CADWorx .

  8. Type the location drive and folder in Install Path, or click the browse ellipsis Browse Ellipsis Install PPM Bootstrapper to navigate to a folder. To use the default, click Next.

  9. Clear Run Redistribute if you want to manually install redistributables later.

    You must install the redistributables at a later time for the software to function correctly.

  10. Select the I agree to the license agreement and conditions check box, and then click Install.

  11. If the User Account Control dialog box displays, click Yes.

    During the installation process, a progress bar displays along with the status of the installation process.

    To view the readme, select the View Readme check box. The readme file displays after you click Finish.

  12. Click Finish.

To install CADWorx using a DVD:To install CADWorx

  1. Insert the DVD in the drive.

  2. Click Start.

  3. Select Run, or type the information below in the Search programs and files box.

  4. In the command line type <CD-DRIVE>:\CADWorxPlantSetup.exe, Alternatively, click Browse to locate CADWorxPlantSetup.exe on the CD ROM drive.

  5. Click Start Setup.

    If you have a previous version of CADWorx installed, the software prompts you with the option to uninstall it before installing the current version.

    • Click Continue to install the current version and retain the previous version.

    • Click Uninstall to remove the previous version prior to installing the current version.

    • Click Exit to terminate the installer.

  6. Type the user name in the User Name box.

  7. Type the company name in the Company Name box.

  8. Select the software required for installation.

  9. Click each product name, except for Specification Editor and Object Enabler, to expand each software selection, and then type the serial number provided by Hexagon PPM.

    P&ID Basic does not require a serial number. You can only install either P&ID Professional or P&ID Basic.

  10. Select the platform version with which to run CADWorx.

  11. Type the location drive and folder in Install Path or click Browse to navigate to a folder. To use the default, click Next.

  12. Clear Run Redistribute if you want to manually install redistributables later.

    You must install the redistributables at a later time for the software to function correctly.

  13. Select the I agree to the license agreement and conditions check box, and then click Install.

  14. If the User Account Control dialog box displays, click Yes.

    During the installation process, a progress bar displays along with the status of the installation process.

    To view the readme, select the View Readme check box. The readme file displays after you click Finish.

  15. Click Finish.

    If you need to modify the license type after installation, you can re-run the installation process. Then, select Repair/Modify, choose Add or Remove Features, select the License Type, and then click Update. During the installation process, a progress bar displays along with the status of the installation process.
