Extract data from database using the data reader patterns - HxGN SDx - Update 64 - Administration & Configuration

The database domain discovery task uses the data reader pattern to query and extract the data from the database. The extracted data is then saved to the Data Capture domain specified in the data reader pattern.

Before you create data reader patterns to extract documents and tags from the product database, you must complete the following steps:

1. Setup the product database for using data reader patterns. For more information, see New Site Wizard > Database Settings page.

2. Create data connection to connect to the database and extract the domain data.

   For example, you can create a data connection with the sample Excel file PUMPS_500OrigC from sample data available on Smart Community. For more information, see Find sample data on Smart Community.

   You must have Microsoft Access Database Engine (64-bit) installed on your workstation to use the Microsoft Excel file as a data connection.

3. Define properties of the data to be extracted from the content file.

4. Create data reader pattern.

5. Define the data reader pattern.

6. Extract data from the database using the data reader patterns.
