A variable name is assigned if a drawing object has some text or an unknown character. In such cases, you can use the Variable rule to extract this content.
To configure the Variable rule, you must complete the following steps:

In the Configuring Rule for Template window, select the property to be used to store the extracted value from the Related Attribute list.

Type a variable name in the Variable Name box.

Type a numerical value in the Minimum Number Of Characters box to retrieve the specified number of characters.

Type in a character in the Padding Character box. This character will be added to the extracted text if the length of the text is less than the number specified in the Minimum Number Of Characters box.

Select the check boxes to do the following:

Mandatory Field - Select this option if this is a mandatory value.

Output Text on All Rows - Select this option if you want to extract data from multiple rows.

Output Multiple Instances - Select this option to extract all the instances of the text in the output.

Output Data - Select this option to display data in the output.

Click OK.
