Configue Pattern Rule

The Pattern rule is used to extract content from the drawing matching a particular pattern. For example, an equipment tag V-1409-100 on a drawing matches a [A-Z]-####-### pattern. This pattern can be defined to extract all equipment tags matching [A-Z]-####-###.

  • You can re-use patterns defined in the Tag Discovery Pattern module to extract tags that match a particular tag pattern.

  • The tag patterns are listed in the Configuring Rule for Template window only if you select Tag from the Target Object list in the Associate Rules for Template window.

To configure the Pattern rule, you must complete the following steps:

  1. In the Configuring Rule for Template window, you can do either of the following:

    • Select an existing pattern from the Pattern list.

    • Create a custom pattern by clicking CustomPattern and defining the pattern in the Custom Pattern box.

    You can further customize the rule by selecting one or more from the following options:

    Consider the pattern as a regular expression.

    Select the Configure using Regular Expression check box.

    Store the extracted value.

    Select the property from the Related Attribute list.

    Search for the pattern as a whole word or as a string within a word.

    Select the Contained In check box.

    Search by considering the input pattern as a mandatory value.

    Select the Mandatory Field check box.

    Extract all instances of the text in the output.

    Select the Output Multiple Instances check box.

    Display data in the output

    Select the Output Data check box.

    Add the extracted text from the selected rule as a prefix

    Select StaticText, RelatedText, or ExtractDataFromText from the Prefix list, and then type a character in the Separator for Prefix box.

    Include custom text as a prefix

    Select the Custom option from the Prefix list, and then type a character in the Separator For Prefix box.

  2. Click OK.
