When a workflow step is rejected:

  1. If the rejection path is to a step in the same workflow:

A copy is made of the workflow and given the next revision number in the sequence. For example, if the original workflow was revision A, the copy will be revision B.

If the rejection path moves the object into a different workflow:

    The new workflow is instantiated.

If no rejection path is defined:

The workflow is copied, as before, and it continues from the most recent assignment step.

  2. The object is returned to the designated rejection step (in the new workflow).

Any steps before the rejection step show as Auto Signed Off. See View auto signed off workflow steps for additional details.

  3. Actions relating to the rejected step are removed from the user's To Do List.

  4. The user's To Do List is populated with the actions relevant to the new step.

  5. The workflow continues from the rejection step in the new copy (revision).

The following diagram shows an example of rejecting in the same workflow.
