When a widget requests data, any performance issues will cause the widget to be disabled in the dashboard the next time the dashboard is loaded. The widget will remain disabled, until manually enabled by the user. However, if it continues to have issues, then it will be disabled again when the dashboard is next loaded. This ensures that slow running widgets do not impact the performance of the system.

Details of any errors and performance issues are recorded in widget logs. There are two types of log:

  • Error - This logs when a widget does not load correctly for whatever reason.

  • Performance - This logs when a widget request returned more than the allowed number of results or ran for longer than the allowed number of seconds. These issues cause the widget to be disabled the next time the dashboard is loaded.

For each widget, the log records the user, the dashboard, and details of what caused the log to be created. You can configure the widget logs in the system options. For more information, see Configure the system options.

To view the widget logs, search for the required widget, and select Actions > Show Widget Logs.

Widget logs are automatically cleared by the system after a set number of days. By default, error logs are removed after 14 days, and performance logs after 7 days.
