The Workflow Comparer allows you to make a visual comparison between a master workflow template and an editable workflow template copy, and review each updated step or property change after an upgrade.

This functionality is only activated after an upgrade, when the comparison option becomes available for the relevant workflows. Only the master workflow templates are upgraded to protect the editable workflow templates from any unwanted changes in the SDx database.

With Workflow Comparer you can easily:

  • Make a comparison between an editable workflow template and its related master workflow template.

  • Visualize and identify any changes between the workflows, such as modified steps, properties, relationships, and attributes.

  • Accept or decline each change individually to allow for any customization that has been done to your editable workflow template.

  • Synchronize your editable workflow template with the related master workflow template, accepting some of the master changes and keeping your customizations.

  • Completely replace your editable workflow template with the master workflow template accepting all the changes.

What constitutes a workflow modification?

The following applies to a workflow modification:

  • The product center has changed the description of the master workflow template.

  • The product center has added a new step in the master workflow template.

  • The product center has deleted a step in the master workflow template.

  • The product center has modified a step or property attributes in the master workflow template.

  • The user has changed the description of their editable workflow template copy.

  • The user has added a new step in their editable workflow template copy.

  • The user has deleted an existing step in their editable workflow template copy.

  • The user has modified a step or property attributes in their editable workflow template copy.

  • The user has changed the description of their editable workflow template copy.

  • Only administrators with roles assigned to the WorkflowAdmin access group can compare workflow templates.

  • Editable workflow templates that have been modified by customers are identified in the Modified by customer property column.

  • New out-of-the-box SDx sites do not show this functionality until an upgrade is applied and conflicts are found.
