Remove a variable from a statement if it is no longer needed.

Before you begin

You must have the document open and the statement in edit mode or the statement must be in edit mode from the statement editor window.

About this task

When you remove a single use variable from a statement, AcceleratorKMS removes the variable from the statement and modifies all associated procedures to remove the variable and its value.

When you remove a reusable variable from a statement, AcceleratorKMS does not remove the variable's value from the asset profiles, but it does remove it from any documents in which the statement and variable were used. The value is not removed from the asset profile because the reusable variable might be used in other statements.

Procedure

  1. Find the variable in the statement.

Variables can be in Block titles, statement text, or in the More details section.

Loss of variable definitions. Modifications to variables (single use and reusable) in statements causes loss of variable definitions in all content where the statement is used. Verify the statement is not used in other content before removing variable.

  2. Select the variable and its surrounding brackets, and then delete it.

  3. Click Preview to see a list of published content impacted by the edits.

  4. Click the content title to view the content in its proposed changed state.

Statements that are new or modified since the last time the content was published are flagged with NEW.

To close without saving, close the window.

  5. For published content affected by your modifications, enter a comment in the Version comment field. For non-published content, a comment is optional.

  6. Click Save.

Results

The variable is removed from the statement. Affected documents and asset profiles are modified accordingly.
