Use statements to create content.

Before you begin

Ensure a similar statement, which you could use instead, does not already exist.

About this task

If existing statements do not meet your requirements, you can create a new statement for use in content. These steps show you how to create a statement independent of the content. To create statements within the content, navigate within this guide to Creating a statement within a document.

Procedure

  1. On the menu, navigate to Search and click Statements.

The system displays the Statements window.

  2. Click Create a new statement.

SHARED Tip The Statement Editor window opens.

  3. Click the Type drop-down list, and select from one of the following:

    • Information

    • Procedural

    • Branch

    • Block

    • Other types, such as, Scan code, Data collection and Table might be listed if created by your Administrator.

  4. If you select either Procedural or Branch types, then click the Role drop-down list, and select a role.

The role drop-down list is only required when procedural and branch types are selected and only roles defined with role operation "Can complete content" will appear for selection in the role drop-down list.

  5. In the text field, type the text you want to add and then click Create.

SHARED Tip Using brackets, you can include single use variables and web links in your text.

For a single use variable with your statement, use su in curly braces or click the {su} icon. A value for the variable must be defined every time the statement is used. See Adding a single use variable. For reusable variables, click the {var} icon to define a variable. For more information, see Adding a reusable variable.

For a web link, use [ ] brackets around the URL followed by a space and then the text that you want to be clickable. For example, [https://www.acceleratorKMS.com AcceleratorKMS]. "AcceleratorKMS" is the clickable link that takes the user to the specified URL.

  1. (Optional) In the More Details section, click Add more details.

  2. (Optional) In the Attachments section, click Add attachment.

The allowable attachment types are controlled by your AcceleratorKMS Administrator

  3. (Optional) Select the Sequence is critical check box.

The system displays a note in the text area of the step to indicate that the step must be performed prior to completing remaining steps.

  4. (Optional) In the Training section, add a training statement.

  5. Click Save.
